Hearing To Resume For Former Prep Football Star

DETROIT (AP) - A probable-cause hearing is scheduled to resume for a one-time prep football star charged with assaulting a female student after he was released from jail for body-slamming a security officer in his school.

Jayru Campbell appeared earlier this month in Detroit District Court, where testimony was heard in the 17-year-old's assault case. The Wayne County prosecutor's office says the hearing will continue on Monday afternoon.

Prosecutors have charged Campbell with assault and unarmed robbery in connection with the incident last month at Cass Technical High School. They say Campbell assaulted the 17-year-old girl during a dispute involving a phone.

Campbell was sentenced in May to 60 days in jail. He admitted he slammed the officer head-first Jan. 22.
