Hearing For Former MSU Basketball Star Keith Appling Delayed Due To Court Snafu
DETROIT (WWJ) - A preliminary hearing for a former Michigan State University basketball star facing weapons charges has been adjourned because there wasn't a judge available.
Clad in a red sweatshirt, Keith Appling sat with family members at the courthouse all morning before the case was adjourned to a future date, WWJ Newsradio 950's Laura Bonnell reported.
According to reports, 36th District Court Judge Kenneth King was assigned to the case but may be on vacation.

Appling was arrested last month and charged with carrying a concealed weapon in a car after police stopped him on 7 Mile and Hanna Street in Detroit. Police claim they saw Appling hid the gun under a seat, but Appling's attorney says his client didn't know the weapon was in the vehicle, which he doesn't own.
Appling is also facing felony weapons and marijuana charges in a separate incident stemming from a May arrest outside a Dearborn strip club. Unconfirmed reports described the weapon as an AK-47.
Appling's attorney denies this, also saying that Appling is innocent of the drug charge and does not smoke pot.
Appling played for the Spartans from 2010-2014 and had two 10-day contracts with the Orlando Magic in the NBA's development league this season.
