Hearing Delayed In Case Of Beaten Grosse Pointe Park Man
DETROIT (WWJ) -- Two men accused of beating a Grosse Pointe Park man following a traffic accident in Detroit on June 7 appeared in court for a preliminary examination on Monday.
The hearing was delayed until July 8 due to a schedule conflict with one of the defense attorneys. Nathaniel Szczerbinski said that his life has not been the same since he was beaten by Demond and Toriano Williams.
"I feel like crap, you know," Szczerbinski said. "I'm still hurting pretty bad. My life has not been easy -- it hasn't been the same."
Szczerbinski, 34, said he has returned to his landscaping job, but still struggles to work through rib and eye injuries, including a shattered orbital.
"Psychologically I'm a wreck -- I'm stressed out, I'm nervous, I have anxiety," Szczerbinski said. "I have a lot of stuff going on."
Szczerbinski did not object to the judge changing bond for the accused men, because he said he didn't want to further inflame the case.
Szczerbinski said that he doesn't want the men who beat him to be too severely punished, but wants them to know that what they did was horrible.
"I don't want them to serve life in prison, or anything," Szczerbinski said. "But I would just like for them to realize that what they did to me was horrible."
The judge order that both men would be held on $40,000 personal bond.
