Have $120,000? Hamtramck 'Disneyland' Folk Art Display Up For Sale

HAMTRAMCK (WWJ/AP) - An installation of folk art known as "Hamtramck's Disneyland" is up for sale.

The backyard installation is on the market for $120,000, which is the asking price of its two neighboring houses in the Detroit enclave, according to The Detroit Free Press. Real estate agent Richard Landuyt said the adjoining houses at 12087 and 12091 Klinger are being sold together, and whoever buys them gets the art installation.

Dmytro Szylak, a retired autoworker, built the folk art display of brightly painted ceiling fans and rocking horses and other objects that he called "Disneyland," behind the homes he owned. He died last year at age 92.

The properties are being sold by Szylak's stepson, Yuriy Byega, who prefers the artwork to stay intact. The agent says saving "Hamtramck's Disneyland" isn't a requirement for sale.
