Gunshot Victim Found In Burning Home Near Lansing

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Lansing-area authorities say firefighters responding to a house fire found the body of a man who'd been shot to death.

The Lansing State Journal and WILX-TV say it happened Monday morning at a home in Ingham County's Meridian Township.

Police Lt. Greg Frenger says authorities weren't immediately able to identify the victim.

Fire Chief Fred Cowper says the blaze apparently started in the basement and caused extensive damage to the home.
