Gunman Targets Pair Sitting In Car On Detroit's West Side; 1 Killed

DETROIT (WWJ) - One person is dead and another is hospitalized after a gunman walked up to their vehicle on Detroit's west side and opened fire.

The shooting happened early Thursday morning outside of the Park Square Apartments on Woodrow Wilson Road, just south of the Boston-Edison District near Rosa Parks Boulevard and Clairmount Avenue.

Police say a man and woman were sitting in a car when someone walked up, opened the car door and started shooting.

The male passenger was fatally wounded and declared dead at the scene. The female driver was taken to the hospital with at least one gunshot wound; her current condition is unknown.

Police are now searching for the gunman. A description was not immediately released.
