Gunman Still At Large In Domestic Dispute That Brought SWAT Team To Pontiac Neighborhood

PONTIAC (WWJ) - Authorities are on the hunt for a man accused of firing a shot in a domestic dispute that prompted evacuations in a Pontiac neighborhood Monday.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Department said it happened at around 9 a.m. on Memorial Day at a home in the 30-block of Hazel, near Telegraph Road and M-59.

Officials said the victim had left the home the night before when she found her boyfriend with another woman. When she returned with her brother to get her belongings , the man allegedly polled out a semi-automatic handgun and "discharged one round near the brother."  The suspect then pointed the gun at the brother's chest, the woman told authorities, before pointing it at his own head.

That's when victim and her brother fled the home and called 911.

A SWAT team spent several hours outside the house, neighbors were evacuated, and people were asked to avoid the area as a precaution as police worked to determine of the gunman was barricaded inside.

As it turns out, he was not.  After several hours SWAT using a robot was able to clear and secure the residence, Sheriff's officials said.

The suspect reportedly destroyed his cell phone before he left the house, and police hadn't been able to track him down as of late Tuesday morning.

Sheriff's officials said a warrant request was being presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office. The man's name was not immediately released as an investigation continues.

No one was hurt.
