Grown Man Arrested For Allegedly Assaulting Teen During Suburban Soccer Match

NORTHVILLE (CBS Detroit) Multiple media outlets are reporting that a 41-year-old man was arrested this weekend for allegedly assaulting a teen referee during a youth soccer game.

According to police, the 16-year-old referee called a foul on a player during the match between Waza Football Club and Canton Celtic Soccer Club. And the adult wasn't having it.

"After calling the foul, police say a man walked on the field, got into an argument with the referee, then allegedly shoved him and threw a cup at him. The game was immediately ended," according to WXYZ.com. A call to Northville police by CBS Detroit was not immediately returned.

The adult was reportedly arrested for misdemeanor assault and released on a $500 cash bond.

He is expected to be arraigned on June 15.
