Group Of Masked Men Fire Shots Into Crowd, Killing 1 And Injuring 3

PONTIAC (WWJ) -- One woman is dead and three other people are injured after a group of masked men fired shots into a crowd in Pontiac on Friday night.

Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a call from the 70 block of Thorpe Street on multiple shots being fired just after 11 p.m.

Officers found that four people had been hit by gunfire that reportedly came from a dark-colored vehicle with its lights turned off. The vehicle was occupied by three or four people, according to witnesses.

Police say that the shooter -- or shooters -- were all wearing masks. Multiple shell casings from a semi-automatic weapon were recovered at the scene.

Three people sustained non-life-threatening injuries and a fourth person died as a result of her gunshot wound. She has been identified as Aniya Edwards, 19, who was and a resident of Memphis, Tennessee. Edwards was originally from Pontiac and was visiting the area.

A $1,000 cash reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the people responsible. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800 SPEAK-UP.
