Griffins Ousted From Playoffs, Do The Red Wings Have Their New Head Coach?

DETROIT (WWJ) - The Grand Rapids Griffins lost 2-0 to the Utica Comets on Tuesday night -- dropping the best of seven series 4 -2 before a full house at Utica Memorial Auditorium.

Will the courting of Griffins coach Jeff Blashill  become official for the Detroit Red Wings? In need of a head coach since the departure of Mike Babcock.

On Friday, the Red Wings announced they wouldn't announce a selection until the Griffins completed their season.

Is now the time for Blashill? He's been an obvious candidate to take over the Red Wings from the moment coach Mike Babcock left for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
