Police Searching For Suspect After High-Speed Chase, Crash In Roseville

ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - Police are looking for a driver who escaped after a high-speed chase that ended with a crash.

The crash closed southbound Gratiot Ave. just south of I-696 Tuesday morning. The chase reportedly began in Warren, late Tuesday morning, and ended in Roseville, just off the freeway.

Police told WWJ's Laura Bonnell a K9 team was searching the area for a driver who fled the scene.

There was no immediate word as to what prompted the chase. A second vehicle involved in the crash was towed from the scene.

The suspect crashed into a car driven by 87-year-old Roger Jump.

"I was at the light waiting to come across Gratiot to turn over here to make a U-turn, I was the second car at the light and when the light turned green the car in front of me went, then I went and then I got hit," Jump said.

No injuries were reported.

Shortly before noon, police remained on the scene for an ongoing investigation. WWJ Traffic Reporter Lorna Stevens recommends motorists avoid the area, using Groesbeck as an alternate.
