GOP Presidential Candidate Ben Carson Campaigning In Michigan

SPRING ARBOR TWP. (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson is set to campaign at a Christian college in Michigan.

The retired neurosurgeon and Detroit native plans a Wednesday afternoon rally at Spring Arbor University near Jackson. It's his third stop in the state as a candidate. He announced his candidacy in Detroit in May and spoke at a Detroit high school graduation in June.

Carson has been among the leading GOP contenders in some recent polls.

He has blamed political correctness for the fallout over his recent statement against electing a Muslim president.

Carson wasn't among five Republican candidates who attended the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference on Mackinac Island over the weekend.
