GOP Front-runner Trump Returns To Michigan After Remarks On 'Muslim Problem'

GRAND RAPIDS (WWJ) - Republican candidate Donald Trump is headed to west Michigan.

The GOP front-runner will be appearing in Grand Rapid Monday evening during a swing his run for the Republican nomination for president.

Trump recently made headlines after suggesting a temporary ban on Muslims. Political Science Department Chair at Oakland University Dave Dulio says his comments will not take him out of the presidential race.

"We've seen in polling over the last couple of weeks that Ted Cruz has started to get some momentum and he's found a lot of that momentum with Evangelical Christians , who are a big part of the Republican base."

In a 2011 interview Donald Trump spoke of the Muslim problem with David Brody of the Christian Broadcast Network.

Doors of the Deltaplex Arena and Conference Center open Monday at 5 p.m.
