GM To Make Investments At Tennessee And Michigan Factories

SPRING HILL, Tenn. (AP) - General Motors is expected to announce two factory investments on Wednesday that could add more than 800 jobs at plants in Tennessee and Michigan.

The company has scheduled news conferences at factories in Spring Hill, Tennessee, and Bay City, Michigan.

GM spokesman Tom Wickham would not comment before the ceremonies.

But the automaker's 2015 contract with the United Auto Workers union says that Spring Hill will get 699 new jobs to build engines and make parts. The Bay City factory will get 133 new jobs to make engine and transmission components.

The Spring Hill complex makes the new Cadillac XT5 midsize SUV and two four-cylinder engines. It will start producing the GMC Acadia SUV later this spring. The Bay City plant makes piston pins, camshafts and other parts.
