Girls' Cross Country Coach Charged In Child Pornography Case

FLUSHING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A Flint-area girls' assistant cross country coach has been charged after police said suspected child pornography was found on a personal computer.

Stan Holmes was arraigned Monday in Cheboygan County on possession of child pornography and using a computer to commit a crime charges. He faces an Aug. 15 probable cause conference.

Tuscarora Police Chief Gordon Temple said a technician at a shop in northern Michigan contacted police earlier this month after finding items on the computer reports The Flint Journal.

Flushing Community Schools Superintendent Tim Stein tells the newspaper that Holmes' "assistant coaching responsibilities were immediately suspended."

Flushing Township police Chief Brian Fairchild said computers and media storage devices were seized from Holmes' home.

The Associated Press left an email Tuesday seeking comment from Holmes' attorney.
