Girl, 14, Dies When Dress Gets Tangled In Equipment On Farm

VERMONTVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Lansing-area authorities say a 14-year-old girl was killed in a farming accident when her dress got entangled in machinery.

The Eaton County sheriff's department tells the Lansing State Journal and TV stations WILK and WLNS that the accident happened about 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The farm is in Vermontville Township, about 25 miles west of Lansing.

The department says Martha Hochstetler was helping use an elevator to move hay bales to an upper part of a barn when the accident happened.

Her funeral is Friday.
