Gerrit Cole Reacts To Victor Martinez Saying He Doesn't Respect The Pirates [VIDEO]

Can I be honest?

When I go to a baseball game I hope two things happen...

1. A legit chance at a no hitter or perfect game.

2. A BRAWL

How long has it been since the Tigers were in a base-brawl?

I'm not sure the players like them, but I know the fans love them, and everybody watching yesterday's Pirates-Tigers game was hoping for some fisticuffs after Gerrit Cole plunked Victor Martinez. It really seemed like it was going to happen. V-Mart stared down Cole and took first and it seemed to be over, well that was until Justin Verlander drilled Pedro Alvarez, both benches were warned and that was officially the end.

Wrong again...

After the Pirates edged out the Tigers 5-4 in a 14 inning affair, I walked up to Martinez who was standing all alone at his locker. I asked Martinez if he believed Cole hit him intentionally and his response was a bit surprising. "Yeah everybody knows that," Martinez said. "I got no respect for no one on that team including Cole and their coaching staff. If they think Verlander hit (Starling) Marte with a 1-2 count, he was battling that at bat and Verlander ended up hitting him. If they really think we did that on purpose, they're playing the wrong sport. Nothing else to say."

That was Tuesday night!

Wednesday, before the game the Pittsburgh, media gathered at Cole's locker stall wondering what his response was going to be. Check out the video for the details.

Oh, one more thing...

Despite common sense telling me there will be no fireworks in tonight's game, I'm holding out hope there will be...and I know you are too!
