CBS DETROIT - Defensive end George Johnson has signed an offer sheet with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to the NFL's transactions wire. The Detroit Lions, who tendered Johnson, have until Monday to match the offer.

The website of the Buccaneers first reported the signing.

Johnson, 27, had a career year in 2014, recording six sacks and playing in all 16 games. In his previous four seasons, Johnson had played for the Buccaneers and the Minnesota Vikings, though for parts of those seasons he was on the practice squads. Johnson had never recorded a sack in a regular season game before 2014.

The Lions currently have some depth at defensive end, with established players in Ziggy Ansah and Jason Jones as well as younger ones like Devin Taylor and Larry Webster.
