Gene Simmons Says KISS Movie To Film In Michigan
CADILLAC, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - KISS frontman Gene Simmons says a feature film based on the band's 1975 visit to Michigan is preparing to film in the Great Lake State.
Simmons told MLive.com on Wednesday that he doesn't know what role the band will play in the "Cadillac High" movie. KISS visited Cadillac after learning its winning football team listened to the band's music in its locker room.
"It's now been fully funded and it's now in pre-production," Simmons said. "The only date or timeline (for a release) I can give would be a guess."
The Michigan Film Office in 2012 offered producer Philip Steuer an $8.2 million incentive to shoot the movie in Cadillac, Detroit and Pontiac. The film was expected to spend more than $27 million and hire 205 Michigan residents.
Steuer produced Disney's 2013 movie "Oz the Great and Powerful," which was filmed in Pontiac.
The Michigan Film Office could not immediately be reached for comment.
