Funeral For Girl Killed In Crossfire Of Bullets Days After Christmas

DETROIT (WWJ) - Chanell Berry would have celebrated her eighth birthday today, instead her family will mourn at her funeral.

Berry was killed days after Christmas at her home on Steel Street, a victim caught in the crossfire in Detroit after an alleged dispute between women in the home.

Dozens of family and friends gathered over the weekend to remember her.

Keyana Johnson told WWJ's Charlie Langton that her daughter was shot following a dispute involving other women at the home -- she was playing with Christmas gifts at the time of the shooting.

Through tears the mom cried, "two days after Christmas they did this to my baby — she had no voice and no choice."

Berry will be laid to rest at Fellowship Chapel on West Outer Drive. Her family said the shooting stemmed from an argument involving the ex-girlfriend of Chanell's father.
