Frigid Forecast: Temps Drop To Single Digits In Metro Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - Get ready, metro Detroit, for temperatures that will feel as cold as 20 below zero.
"We're heading into the icebox tonight — and there we're gonna stay right on through Friday evening," WWJ AccuWeather Meteorologist Dave Bowers said Wednesday afternoon.
"We're talking 8 degrees at daybreak," Bowers said. "And then it doesn't rise much tomorrow, and then the wind picks up, so it will actually even feel colder during the midday and afternoon hours — RealFeel readings will be zero or lower and also a few afternoon snow showers."
"Eskimo weather" is how he described the forecast for Wednesday night and Thursday.
"It's windy and frigid, a few flurries, a low of 8 and a high of 14 Thursday — and those RealFeels are more like 10 to 20 below," Bowers said.
Looking ahead to Friday, a storm sneaking by could drop a few inches of snow on Southeast Michigan Friday night; with a wintry mix maybe turning to rain or freezing rain when temperatures (thankfully) heat back up a little bit Saturday afternoon to just above freezing.
Here's the detailed forecast through the weekend:
Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy and bitterly cold. Low 12F. RealFeel 1°.
