Freight Train Derails In Saginaw County; No Injuries

CARROLLTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say some cars of a freight train went off the tracks in Saginaw County, smashing into a power pole.

No injuries were reported following the late Wednesday derailment in Carrollton Township.

WNEM-TV reports police say work was being done on the tracks and mud likely raised a portion of the track. The area was closed to vehicle traffic Thursday morning.

It was the second derailment reported in a day in Saginaw County. The Saginaw News reports an empty train car used to haul hazardous liquids derailed and another car came off its wheels in the city of Saginaw on Wednesday morning. No one was hurt.
