Fourth Sexual Assault Reported Near Grand Valley State University

ALLENDALE, Mich. (AP) - A university in western Michigan is urging students to be cautious after a fourth sexual assault was reported near campus.

Police say the assault occurred Tuesday night outside of off-campus apartments near Grand Valley State University in Allendale. It's the fourth assault reported since Aug. 26.

Grand Valley officials are urging students to check in with friends more frequently, participate in ride shares and walk in groups. A public forum is planned Thursday.

The Ottawa County sheriff's office is asking apartment managers to share any security video. Capt. Mark Bennett says it could show who is coming and going in the area.

Grand Valley police Chief Renee Freeman says her department is "very concerned" about the assaults.
