Former Wolverines QB Devin Gardner Signs With Patriots As Receiver

FOXBOROUGH, Massachusetts (CBS Detroit) -- After spending parts of five seasons in Ann Arbor playing quarterback, Devin Gardner has been signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent to be a wide receiver.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Gardner agreed to join the team following the completion of the draft on Saturday.

Gardner spent his last two seasons as a Wolverine under center, throwing for 2960 yards in 2013 and 1896 yards in 2014. Gardner caught 16 passes for 266 yards and four touchdowns in 2012 while playing wide receiver for Michigan.
