Former Wolverine Running Back Suspended For Stealing Purse At Casino

MOUNT PLEASANT (AP) — Central Michigan running back Thomas Rawls is indefinitely suspended as he faces prosecution on accusations of stealing a woman's purse at a casino and using her credit cards.

The 21-year-old Flint resident appears Tuesday in Isabella County Trial Court on larceny and credit card fraud charges. The Morning Sun first reported the charges, which stem from an April 8 incident at Soaring Eagle Casino.

Rawls won Mid-American Conference West Division offensive player of the week honors after rushing 31 times for a career-high 155 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-17 upset of Purdue on Sept. 6.

Without him, Central Michigan fell to Syracuse 40-3 Saturday.

The team announced Rawls suspension Monday, along with the dismissal of wide receiver Andrew Flory after retail theft charges.
