Former Top Aide To Ficano Sentenced For Accepting Bribes

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - A former top aide to Wayne County Executive Bob Ficano has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison for accepting bribes.

The county's former Technology Chief Tahir Kazmi, 49, admitted to taking $70,000 worth of bribes in cash and trips to Hawaii, Florida and Turkey, in exchange for awarding multi-million dollar tech contracts with the county.

Kazmi pleaded guilty in 2012.
