Former Lion Jahvid Best Races Usain Bolt In 100 Meters

RIO DE JANEIRO (CBS Detroit) -- Former Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best is in Brazil this week taking on the best athletes in the world in the Rio Summer Olympics.

He ran in the 100 meters on Saturday against track superstar Usain Bolt, and the results were as expected. Bolt finished first in the heat with a time of 10.07 seconds.

Best finished in seventh in the nine-man field, with a time of 10.39.

You can see the video of the race HERE.

Best is representing Saint Lucia, a small Caribbean island nation where his father is from, and is the first former NFL player to take part in the summer games.

Best came to the Lions in 2010 with high expectations. He was drafted with the 30th pick in the first round after rushing for more than 2,600 yards in three seasons at the University of California.

His NFL career was cut short, however, due to nagging concussions. He started just 15 games with Detroit in two seasons, amassing just 945 yards and six touchdowns.
