Football Player From Lansing Accused Of Rape At Missouri College

CANTON, Mo. (WWJ/AP) - A football player from Lansing is facing charges for allegedly raping a woman on a college campus in the northeast Missouri town of Canton.

Twenty-year-old Alante Sims was charged earlier this week with three felonies, including second-degree rape, second-degree sodomy and felonious restraint.

Authorities say Sims attacked the 18-year-old female Oct. 18 at the Culver-Stockton College campus.

The college says Sims has been suspended from school. He is jailed on $50,000 bond.

Sims was a redshirt freshman running back who has not appeared in any games this season. He transferred to the school  from Olivet College, where he carried the ball 48 times for 179 yards and one touchdown.
