Florida Woman Enters Plea In Michigan In Credit Card Skimming Scheme

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - An 18-year-old Florida woman has pleaded no-contest to conducting a criminal enterprise as part of a scheme using skimming devices to steal credit card numbers in western Michigan.

MLive.com reported that Maria Sanchez-Figueredo's plea was made Monday in Kent County Circuit Court in Grand Rapids.

A no contest plea isn't an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing. Sanchez-Figueredo, of Miami, will be sentenced April 14.

Skimmers are devices placed inside credit card readers at gas stations that capture credit and debit card information as cards are being swiped for payment.

The newspaper reports that 10 people from two groups face charges in Michigan.

Members of one group were arrested in September in the Holland-area, west of Grand Rapids.
