When the NHL decided to have an expansion team in Florida I wonder if they really thought it would be a huge draw?
I will admit when I was young and naive and was a fan of hockey (now I don't really care too much for it), I thought the Panthers' logo was awesome. I bought the mini stick and tried to collect of the Panthers' players hockey cards.
Another reason I was a big fan of the team was that John Vanbiesbrouck was the team's goalie and it was the coolest thing ever to 11-year old me.
Now that I have grown up and would rather watch basketball than hockey, I was somewhat surprised that anyone showed up to the Panthers home games.
The Panthers second home game of the season didn't exactly have a mass amount of people in their stands. The announced attendance was 7,311 -- and that was the announced attendance so you know it was nothing close to that, as you can see in the photos below.

According to ESPN.com the Panthers have the lowest average attendance in the NHL at 9,365.
