Flint's Mayor Behind On Water Bill According To Report

FLINT (WWJ) - A report out of Flint that the city's mayor has been telling residents to pay their water bills and records show she hasn't paid hers.

The Flint Journal reporting that city records show Mayor Karen Weaver has not paid her water bill for several months, even though she has told city residents to pay theirs or risk the loss of financial help from the state.

City records also show Weaver and her husband Wrex Weaver routinely have failed to pay off their bill since the beginning of 2013, including racking up multiple non-payment penalties and carrying balances over $1000.

Weaver's spokesperson says the mayor was unaware of the unpaid bill, and that her husband handled the account but she will be looking into it.
