Flint Says Water Quality Improving Based On Upgrades, Fixes

FLINT (AP) — Flint officials say the quality of its troubled municipal water supply has been improving with additional testing, better treatment, system repairs and other fixes.

The city said Friday that water testing for March finds the water meets all state and federal standards for safety. And the once-high levels of a disinfectant byproduct are below maximum acceptable levels at all eight testing sites.

Still, officials say the city technically remains in violation because its annual quarterly testing average isn't within the state's allowable average.

There have been resident complaints about the water's bad taste, smell and appearance as well as reports of health problems since Flint cut ties with Detroit's system and switched to its own last April in a money-saving move.

The city currently gets water from the Flint River.
