Flint Police Look To Citizens To Help Keep Watch In Neighborhoods
FLINT (WWJ) -- Volunteers trained in spotting suspicious and criminal activity are expected to begin patrolling Flint neighborhoods.
Members of the new Citizens' Radio Patrol will receive radios, reflective decals for vehicles and assignment areas this week at City Hall.
According to the Flint Journal, the patrol group is part of the city's Blue Badge Volunteer Corps, which uses residents and networks of neighborhood associations and crime watch organizations to enhance police efforts.
Police Chief James Tolbert said that "having those extra individuals acting as our eyes and ears with real-time reporting capability will enable us to respond to more situations as they arise."
