Fireworks Thrown When Boaters Clash After Crash On Waterford Township Lake

WATERFORD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Oakland County authorities are investigating an apparent case of "boat rage"on Independence Day.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office marine unit responded late Saturday night to a call about a boating accident on Lake Oakland in Wateford Township.

The alleged victim told deputies that a crowd on the lake was dispersing following a fireworks show when another boat crashed into his boat. That's when, the man reported, an argument ensued and the captain of the other boat and his passengers "became very aggressive" and began throwing fireworks from their boat into his.

The two boats separated and the alleged victim returned home.

There were no injuries and there have been no arrests.

Sheriff's officials say an investigation is ongoing.
