Firefighters Battle Blaze At Popular Downriver Restaurant

TRENTON (WWJ) - White smoke filled the air Downriver on Tuesday as a big fire burned at well-liked restaurant.

Firefighters seem to have mostly extinguished the blaze by late morning, but remained on the scene after 11 a.m. at the Herb Garden Cafe on King Road, near Fort Street in Trenton.

There have been no injuries reported, but damage from the fire is extensive. Video from WDIV-TV appeared to show that the roof had collapsed.

There was no initial indication whether the fire affecting buildings that are attached to the restaurant, which is in a strip mall. The fire's cause is unknown at this time as an investigation continues.

King Road was shut down at Fort Street as a result of the fire but has since reopened.
