Firefighter Injured Battling Detroit Church Fire

DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit firefighter was rushed to the hospital after being hurt while battling a church fire on Detroit's east side.

The fire broke out early Friday morning at a vacant church building on Coplin Street and Vernor Highway.

Dispatchers say one firefighter was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital with minor injuries. His current condition is unknown.

Authorities say the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The building used to house City View Missionary Baptist Church.
