Firefighter Cited After Rolling Fire Truck Into Ditch

TORCH LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A firefighter has been cited after the fire truck he was driving rolled into a ditch in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula.

Authorities say the 31-year-old firefighter was taken to a hospital with neck pain following Wednesday's crash of the 2,000-gallon tanker truck in Antrim County's Torch Lake Township.

The truck rolled while he was returning from an emergency call and trying to turn into the township fire department's driveway.

Investigators say speed is believed to be a factor in the crash. The firefighter was cited for speeding and for failing to wear a seat belt.
