Fire At Boyne Highlands Resort Ski Lodge; 12 Go To Hospital

HARBOR SPRINGS, Mich. (AP) - Boyne Highlands, a popular ski resort in northern Michigan, says there's been a fire at its main lodge.

The resort called it a "significant structure fire" early Sunday. Emmet County Sheriff Pete Wallin says a dozen people were taken to a hospital. The resort says any injuries don't appear to be life-threatening.

The resort is in Harbor Springs, 75 miles northeast of Traverse City. The ski slopes are closed for the day.

A local photographer, Alex Childress, says he drove to Boyne around 3 a.m. when he heard about the fire. He says he saw smoke "billowing all over the place."
