Fight At Grand Rapids Gas Station Escalates Into Shooting; Victim Hospitalized, Suspect On The Run

GRAND RAPIDS (WWJ) -- A suspect is on the run and another person is hospitalized following a shooting at a gas station in Grand Rapids on Saturday.

Grand Rapids police say it happened at the Marathon gas station on Franklin St. around 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The 24-year-old male victim and the suspect were customers in the gas station when they got into an argument. The argument turned physical and at some point, police say, the suspect got a handgun and shot the victim in the chest.

The suspect then got away in a White Ford Explorer.

The victim is listed in serious, but stable, condition at a hospital. The suspect is described as a White or Hispanic male, in his 40s or 50s, with a husky build and gray hair.
