'Female Viagra' That Also Reduces Appetite Could Be Available Next Year
DETROIT (WWJ) - It's a pill designed to boost a woman's sex drive but reduce her appetite for food. Sounds too good to be true — but it could be on the market soon.
Developers from the British company ORLIBID say the pill, some people refer to as "female Viagra", may be available at the end of 2015.
The drug, which is still undergoing clinical trials, is essentially a synthetic version of the hormone melatonin, and acts on the brain to boost sexual desire, according to the developers.
Women take it 15 minutes before sexual activity, and the pill would keep the engine revving for more than two hours.
Another new drug on the horizon offering the same sex drive promise is Lybridos, created by Dutch and U.S. developers. It's targeted for sale within the next three years.
