FBI Seeks Tips To I.D. Man Who Poured Mystery Liquid On Food At Ann Arbor Whole Foods Market [PHOTOS]
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - The FBI is looking for a man suspected of contaminating food at a southeast Michigan Whole Foods Market.
According to David Gelios, Special Agent in Charge for the FBI's Detroit Division, the suspect was seen sprinkling an unknown substance on food carts at a local store.
The FBI did not didn't divulge the location. However, speaking to reporters over the weekend, Whole Foods spokesperson Allison Phelps confirmed that it happened at the chain's Ann Arbor store on Eisenhower Parkway.
She told the Ann Arbor News an employee witnessed a man pouring liquid on items at the food bars and alerted a manager.
The store closed all salad and hot food bars as a precaution and tossed out any related food. The areas were sanitized and restocked before it was reopened. No injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection with the incident.
The FBI released security camera photos hoping someone from the public will recognize the suspect who, as of Monday morning, had not been identified. A time stamp on one of the photos indicates the man entered the store at around 9:13 a.m. on Sunday, April 24.
It's unclear what charges the perpetrator might face, but Gelios said the FBI would like to speak with him.
