FBI Agent Shot During Raid In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - A veteran officer with the FBI SWAT team was shot during a raid in Detroit.

On the second day of a series of raids in the city the officer, who has not been named, was injured during an early morning raid.

WWJ's Sandra McNeill reports that the agent is expected to recover.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Gelios says the team was raiding a home on Decosta near Fenkell in Detroit around 6 a.m.

"During the execution of the search warrant they went to make entry into the house and a shot were fired from inside the house - not by an agent," said Gelios. "No agents returned fire in this incident."

"Shortly after the incident I went over to the hospital as well as the entire SWAT team," said Gelios.

Additing that they are relieved to know that the officer did not suffer life threatening injuries.

Four people inside that home were detained, a gun was found as well.

The two-day operation has netted seven guns, in addition to heroin and crack cocaine - the investigation now includes an assault on a federal officer.
