Fatality Confirmed In Amtrak Collision Outside Kalamazoo

GALESBURG (WWJ) -- Police are investigating a confirmed fatal crash in Galesburg, just outside of Kalamazoo, this evening involving an Amtrak train out of Chicago, bound for Detroit and then on to Pontiac.

Galesburg Police confirm to CBS Affiliate WMMT-News channel 3, that a victim -- under the age of 18 -- was fatally struck by a train near the intersection of Burgess and Battle Creek in Galesburg, around 9:15 Monday evening.

Amtrak confirmed that the train was traveling on Wolverine Line #358.

No passengers or crew were injured.

Amtrak says there are currently no plans to bring in buses to get people to their destinations.
