Fatal Accident Shuts Down Eastbound I-96 Near Lansing

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police were on the scene Friday afternoon of a fatal crash east of Lansing.

The accident shut down eastbound I-96 at Webberville Road — and police say it involved a car and a semi. One person is dead, but it's not clear if the person who was killed was the at-fault driver or the driver in the other vehicle.

An investigation is underway, and police are expected to release more details once they become available. Drivers were forced to use Grand River as an alternate route.

This is the second time in a week that there's been a fatal accident along I-96 between Howell and Lansing. Last week, three people were killed in a 53 car pileup near Fowlerville.
