Fast Action Of Bystanders, Lifeguards Save 3-Year-Old Girl At Pool

DETROIT (WWJ) - Quick acting bystanders and lifeguards may have saved the life of a 3-year-old girl in Saint Clair Shores Tuesday night. The girl nearly drowned in a pool at Lake Front Park.

The girl, who has not been identified, is recovering says Lt. Shawn Goldie with the St. Clair Shores Fire Department.

Goldie says the quick response might have saved the girl's life.

"A bystander had pulled the child out of the pool -- and one of the life guards had performed first aid one the child," said Goldie.

Goldie also says the girl was conscious and crying when she was taken to St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit by St. Clair Shores fire crews to be fully checked out.
