Farmington Police Warn Residents Of Burglary: Lock Your Windows, Doors

FARMINGTON (WWJ) - Police in an affluent suburb of Detroit are warning residents to be vigilant after someone broke into a home while a family was sleeping inside.

According to police, the home invasion occurred sometime overnight Thursday at a home in the area of 13 Mile and Haggerty roads.

Police say the suspect, a black male, made entry through the home's unlocked front door while the homeowners were inside. It wasn't immediately clear if he made off with anything of value.

Police are urging residents to secure and lock all windows and doors at nighttime and any time they're away from their homes.

Investigators are still searching for the suspect, described as 6' tall and approximately 150 lbs., wearing a dark shirt and gray pants.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 248-871-2610.
