Farmington Hills Police Officer Faces Child Porn Charges

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (AP) - A police officer in suburban Detroit is accused of using computer to access child pornography.

Farmington Hill Police Chief Chuck Nebus sent out a news release Sunday saying 48-year-old Matthew Parsons has been suspended without pay. He was arraigned Saturday on five counts of using a computer in the commission of a crime and eight charges of sex offense-other.
He was being held Sunday in the Oakland County Jail on $300,000. Records do not indicate he has hired an attorney.

Nebus said Parsons, a 20-year veteran of the department, was charged following an investigation by the attorney general's office after the Crimes Against Children Task Force served a search warrant on Wednesday and interviewed Parsons. Parsons was then placed on administrative leave.

Nebus described the charges as "shocking and devastating."
