Firefighters responded to several neighboring calls of a blaze at a home on Trombley Street west of Rochester Road.

The home was engulfed in flames when first-responders arrived. The owners were awakened by the sound of breaking glass and were able to flee the home uninjured, along with three of their four dogs.

A yellow lab was trapped inside and did not survive.

Authorities say the fire appears to have started on the deck outside during the night, possibly from a barbeque grill, and then spread to the home unnoticed.

The fire remains under investigation.
