Update: Facebook Down For 20 Minutes Wednesday

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Facebook went down for about 20 minutes Wednesday afternoon and users could not access the site.

The popular social network went down about 3:40 p.m., and when the webpage opened, an error message appeared stating:

"Sorry, something went wrong.

We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can."

Many Facebook users took to Twitter to confirm the network was down, and other websites informed users that their sites were active.

Update (3:58 p.m.)

Facebook returned to normal operation about 3:58 p.m. Wednesday.
