Exhausted Aretha Franklin Cancels Las Vegas Show

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Aretha Franklin is canceling her Friday night show in Las Vegas because of exhaustion.

The 73-year-old Detroit native singer said in a statement Tuesday that she has to reschedule the show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace after driving her bus from Detroit to the West Coast for concerts.

She recently performed in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Oakland, California.

Franklin wrote: "I thank all of my fans, friends and supporters who bought tickets. I hope to see you all soon."

The aging Queen of Soul suffered from some undisclosed health problems that led to the cancellation of several concerts and public appearances back in 2013, but in August of that year announced she'd made a  "miraculous" recovery.

Franklin's next scheduled local show is Saturday, Aug. 22 — with opening act The Isley Brothers — at Detroit's Chene Park. There's no indication so far that that concert will be affected. [Get tickets HERE].
